Meeting May 3rd for Longwood residents affected by sewer conversion project
Meeting for Residents Affected by Proposed Island Lake Septic to Sewer Conversion Project
Recently, the City applied for and received an award for a St. Johns River Water Management and Florida Department of Environmental Protection Cost Share Grant. This grant will provide for the construction of a central sewer system and eliminate 100 septic tanks in the area of Alberta and Hobson Streets near Island Lake. With the elimination of septic tanks, pollutant loading to the Wekiva Springs basin will be reduced. Ultimately, this will improve public health, safety, surface water quality and protect vital ground water sources. Please see a map of the project area.
The City is holding an informational meeting to discuss the project, opportunities for connection to the sewer system, and questions regarding annexation into the City of Longwood.
